We stood by the bus stop, my teeth chattering madly, Kenny's as stiff and still as the pole he leaned against. The sun was beginning its descent and the moon was on the rise. Nighttime was our time, my brother's and mine. It was where I felt most alive, as vulnerable as the day I was born. It was where Kenny felt most like...well, Kenny. Kenny was quite a guy. There are people in the world who remind you only of what you are incapable of accomplishing. There are those who would bid you no self-confidence, nor esteem. There are men and women whose one goal in life is to shoot you down, break you and beat you, raze your towers and burn your bridges. There are those that would cause you pain and suffering for pleasure or satisfaction and they are everywhere. Their members are close and many and wherever you may live, they will live also. I know them, many of them and they tell me of the things I am not. I am not tall and imposing, nor strong and athletic, nor striking and fierce.

I'm standing in a warm and white-washed room. The satin-lined walls, the endless ceiling above, the glossy floor below, my skin and silk shift; all a pearly white. Black is all I see, It is all my eye knows. So cunning it is, The Black Rose. A rose with thorns like needles, Silken petals that are like midnight. He was once so happy, with laughter in his eyes, but now whenever I see his face, my heart begins to die. His eyes have lost their sparkle and his smile has lost its shine. I May Just Be a Movie Star!

I have officially been cast in the lead role of a short, Indie film, written and directed by the one and only Jaime King. It's going to the Sundance, Cannes and SXSW film festivals where directors and actors and producers will see it. I am SO excited.

Writing Club Nonsense

Last week, our writing club sponsor challenged us to write in a different way, about something we wouldn't normally write about. We didn't have time for short stories or anything lengthy, so we chose to write poems. Morris wrote about unicorns and gangsters and STD's. Jayme wrote about falling in love and Courtney wrote about gruesome death. Eli wrote about "the magic of birth" and John did a haiku. Me? I wrote about sideways poop. Yeah, that's right. SIDEWAYS. POOP. My challenge was to write realistically, straight-forward and silly, since my writing is usually fantastically obscure. Who else would write about sideways poop? Nobody but me.

Wow, has it been a long time. or what? Well, I'm writing this to try and get more views on my blog. It is a social experiment after all, and I do need research and findings to report and thus I need more than 3 close friends to give me feedback. That's where you come in. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, "Oh God, another freaking poser blog... Why do I put up with this crap?" Well that's just it. It isn't a poser blog and it isn't emo or pointless. about. Well, Derek was a smart person.
He sent it to 12 people. Later that
day, he found a $100.00 bill on the
